Explore the Via Dinarica Bosnia, an area still undiscovered by many hikers. On this adventure you will find a playground for active travelers: spectacular limestone peaks, glacial lakes, breathtaking views, colorful wildflowers, medieval villages and a generous, welcoming culture.

Come and explore the Olympic Mountain Bjelasnica: a stunning area in the heart of the Dinaric Alps. During your hike you will experience exceptional views and see some of the most impressive sunsets in this corner of Europe. Don't forget to enjoy Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia, which hosted the Winter Olympics in 1984. Sarajevo offers an ancient mix of European and Middle Eastern culture and living history.

 

Day 1: Climb to the observatory (2,067 m), highest peak of Bjelasnica
Optional climb to the observatory, the highest peak of Bjelasnica (2,067 m), and hike to the mountain village of Umoljani.

Challenging hike / 6-7 hours hike / 850 m elevation gain / 13 km

Day 2: Village-to-village hike (with optional ascent to Obalj peak)
Hike with impressive views of the Rakitnica Canyon and insights into the old lifestyle of these communities.

Challenging hike / 4-5 hours hike / 700 m elevation gain / 8 km

Day 3: Crossing the Rakitnica Canyon, from Bjelasnica to Visocica Mountains
Hike through one of the deepest canyons in this part of Europe, crossing from one mountain to another. You end the day at the Vrela mountain hut / Via Dinarica Outdoor Center. The perfect place to learn everything you are interested in about the Via Dinarica.

Day 4: Insight into the Visocica Mountains with the peaks Drstva and Vito
Hike over one of the most exciting ridges in the region with impressive views of the opposite side of the Rakitnica Canyon. Transfer to Sarajevo.
