Have you ever walked at night and enjoyed millions of stars above you? The lights of the capital can be very charming, but have you ever looked at those lights from above?
Sometimes, after a day of exploring Sarajevo, the perfect way to unwind is to take a nighttime hike through the woods on one of the many hiking trails around Sarajevo. While we don't recommend attempting these hikes alone, the evening breeze and sparkling views of the Sarajevo Valley are worth the adventure if you're up for it.
Come with us and explore this great area, so close to the urban hustle and bustle, yet so far from daily life in Sarajevo. We leave the city in the late afternoon to admire the sunset over the surrounding mountains before enjoying the evening lights. We drive via Vraca to Brus and from there, after a 20-minute drive, to the starting point of our hike. We begin the 500-meter climb to the peak of Trebević (1,629 meters).
Our hike takes us along a long and winding mountain path. Although we walk through pine and spruce forests for most of the way and enjoy complete silence, you will occasionally be rewarded with beautiful views of the lights of Sarajevo and the stars above us.
We reach the top where you will see Sarajevo from a perspective you didn't have before. After enjoying the view, we descend via an alternative but slightly shorter route. We can end the evening with an after-work drink in one of the nearby local mountain huts.
