Explore the oldest national park in Bosnia and experience one of the most breathtaking landscapes in Southeast Europe. This day hike takes you deep into the Sutjeska National Park, also known as the “Yosemite of Southeast Europe” due to its overwhelming nature. After a two-hour drive from Sarajevo, we reach the picturesque canyon of the Sutjeska River, where the adventure begins.
The hike first takes us to Dragoš saddle, where we can catch a glimpse of Skakavac waterfall amidst the dense endemic Perućica forest. We then continue to Prijevor, where we can enjoy spectacular views of Bosnia's highest peaks, including Maglić, Zelengora and Volujak. The majestic mountains surround us, offering a scenery that is often compared to Yellowstone National Park.
At the edge of the forest, we descend to the Trnovačko glacial lake, which lies at an altitude of 1,500 meters in a huge amphitheater of rocky peaks. If the weather is good, the brave among us will have the opportunity to take a refreshing dip in the ice-cold water before enjoying a delicious picnic lunch. Surrounded by the most beautiful peaks in Bosnia, you can relax here and enjoy nature to the fullest. After lunch, we return to civilization, enjoying the gentle glow of the setting sun over Zelengora and Maglić, the highest mountains in Bosnia.
