Skakavac Waterfall is the highest continuously flowing waterfall in Bosnia and Herzegovina with a height of 98 meters. We will take a 30-minute drive north from Sarajevo to the village of Nahorevo, named after a German (Nahor) who lived as a shepherd in this picturesque valley hundreds of years ago. From the foothills below the Seven Springs, we will start a hike of moderate difficulty along a mountain road to the upper part of the waterfall. Skakavac Waterfall (the name Skakavac means "grasshopper" in Bosnian) is the highest continuously flowing waterfall in Bosnia and Herzegovina with a height of 98 meters.
A calming break and some tea or coffee await us here before we descend through dense beech forests to the base of the waterfall. From below we have fantastic views of the water, mist and forest. On the way back we meander through the forest back to the village and perhaps on to the hunting lodge for an ice cold drink. This moderately cool hike is a pleasant refreshment in the hot summer months as we are blessed with wonderful views of the Grasshopper Waterfall and continue our hike through the shade in the pine and beech forests.
The area is full of beautiful waterfalls, views of Sarajevo, medieval tombstones, wildlife and is a truly amazing place in nature so close to Sarajevo.
