For hiking lovers, Čvrsnica Mountain is certainly one of the most interesting mountains to climb. Čvrsnica is the ideal place for all those who seek silence, wilderness and the peacefulness of the mountains, complemented only by the sound of the wind in the tops of centuries-old trees and relaxing sounds of forest dwellers. This route on Čvrsnica Mountain starts in Vitlenica and leads to Hajdučka vrata. “Hajdučka vrata” are a remarkable stone circle formed over thousands of years by wind, rain, sun and other natural conditions. The sight and beauty from there is simply breathtaking. According to legend, the Hajduks proclaimed themselves there and anyone who passed through the gate supposedly became bulletproof.
The Hajduks were outlaws in the region of Southeastern Europe. Their main enemy was the Ottoman Empire, so they were rebels and freedom fighters among the people. A little-known fact is that one of the Lord of the Rings trilogies was supposed to be filmed at the location of Hajdučka vrata. However, this did not happen due to the inaccessible terrain. Due to their aesthetic and atmospheric value, Hajdučka vrata have been protected as a natural monument in Bosnia and Herzegovina since 1985. After visiting Hajdučka vrata, you will spend the night in the Vilinac mountain hut. On the second day, you will hike to Veliki Vilinac. After that, there are several options to return to the starting point, including returning the same way, the route via Zelenike and the most remote path via Muharnica.
