If you are wondering what to visit in Mostar in terms of interesting city events, one of the highlights is watching mostly young men jumping from the Old Bridge and diving into the Neretva River. Old Bridge and Kujundžiluk
Mostar is known because of this unique bridge that has many stories to tell. Some legends might be interesting for your children too. The shape of the bridge alone tells a story. If you look at the reflection of it in the Neretva, you will see a circle that symbolizes life. In Mostar, you can hear several languages from all over the world, which underlines its appeal even more. I believe that the Old Bridge comes to mind for most tourists when they think of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which is undoubtedly the main attraction of the country.
Once all the towers around the bridge had a function, and to this day they have names. Tara Tower is the one on the eastern or left side of the Neretva. The Ottomans used it as a warehouse for ammunition, and today it houses an Old Bridge Museum where you can visit exhibitions related to the Old Bridge. Beyond Tara stands Hercegusa Tower, built in the first half of the 15th century, and it is named after its builder, Herceg Stjepan Vukčić Kosača.
In Mostar, Kujundžiluk stands out as a unique part of town. You will come across the birthplace of Mostar as you stroll along the weathered cobblestones dating back to the mid-16th century. This is where it all began. In the past, Kujundžiluk was the hub for the whole area. There used to be 500 craft workshops along the Neretva River.
The beautiful medieval old town of Mostar is still alive today and is particularly busy in summer. There are many souvenir shops, coppersmiths and other craft workshops as well as outstanding antique shops that can also be very interesting for children.
