Travnik, also known as the “City of Viziers”, is a jewel of Bosnia with its rich history and Ottoman architecture. Travnik Fortress stands proudly above the city and offers stunning views of the surrounding valleys and mountains. A symbol of the city's rich past, this fortress is just one of many historical treasures that make Travnik a fascinating destination.

The colorful houses that line the streets, the soothing springs of Plava Voda (Blue Water) and the delicious Ćevapi served in local restaurants all add to its charm. Travnik is also a city of literature – the birthplace of Nobel Prize winner Ivo Andrić, whose legacy is honored in a museum dedicated to his life and work.

The mix of history, culture and natural beauty that characterizes Travnik will enchant you – and that is exactly why I have included this city in my Bosnia attractions map.

Small rivers and streams run through the area, making Cazin a paradise for nature lovers, hikers and anyone looking for a quiet getaway. In spring and summer, the fields around Cazin are ablaze with the bright colors of blooming flowers, which adds to the enchanting beauty of the town - one reason why I included Cazin in my Bosnia attractions map.

Cazin's culinary traditions are as rich as its landscapes. Hearty dishes made from fresh, local ingredients dominate the cuisine. Specialties such as homemade stews, fresh cheeses and savory dumplings offer an authentic taste of Bosnian hospitality. Walking down the cobbled streets and seeing the charming rural houses gives visitors a glimpse into a simpler, more traditional way of life.

Konjic serves as a gateway to some of Bosnia's most pristine landscapes, including the wild gorge of the Rakitnica Canyon and the tranquil Boračko Lake. These areas are ideal for outdoor activities such as rafting, hiking and camping. The town's wood carving tradition, passed down through generations, is regularly on display in workshops and galleries, showcasing the delicate artistry of local artisans. Konjic's charm lies in its ability to combine adventure and tradition, making it a truly unforgettable destination.

Lush greenery, crystal clear streams and gentle waterfalls await you there, creating a peaceful environment that feels like an escape from the world. It is the perfect place for picnics, swimming or simply relaxing in the embrace of nature. The gentle sound of the water and the singing of birds add to the idyllic atmosphere, making Raj u Raju a paradise for those seeking peace and connection with nature. The only downside is that this place is only open during the summer.

Konjic has a lot to offer. Its proximity to Sarajevo and Mostar are further reasons why the city deserves its place on my Bosnia attractions map.

Mostar

Mostar

Mostar is a city that seems like a poem come to life. Its iconic landmark, the Stari Most (Old Bridge), stands as a symbol of unity and resilience. An architectural masterpiece, the bridge stretches gracefully over the emerald waters of the Neretva River, creating a scene of unparalleled beauty - a sight that deserves its place on the Bosnia attractions map.

Mostar's Old Town is a maze of narrow streets filled with bustling bazaars, historic mosques and cozy cafes where visitors can enjoy traditional coffee and soak up the atmosphere. But beyond its rich history, Mostar also has plenty to offer adventurers.

Fortica Sports and Adventure Park is located on Fortica Hill, east of Mostar, at an altitude of about 500 meters. The highlight is a fantastic 570-meter-long zipline that offers breathtaking views of Mostar. The zipline starts right in front of the mountain hut and the viewpoint where the national flag of Bosnia and Herzegovina flies. The ride ends at the steep cliffs of the “Stolac” climbing area, which includes 13 climbing routes. There is a smaller, 20-meter-long zipline for children - ideal if you are traveling with small children.

The park is also a fantastic place for mountain biking, with several trails that even host competitions. When I was there, I saw riders of all abilities having fun. Plus, Velež mountain is very close by, with over 200km of mapped forest trails that are perfect for cycling. It's a great area if you enjoy exploring trails and getting around on two wheels.

A new addition is a glass skywalk that offers great views of Mostar and is perfect for taking beautiful photos. Among the many sights in Mostar, this is a must-see for adventurers - but even if you just want to enjoy a cup of coffee in a small cafe up there, it's worth a visit.
